Plant a Tree

We help event organisers and participants save the planet

As runners, for every race t-shirt we cherish, most of us have another 5 at the bottom of a drawer, never worn. Globally, millions of event t-shirts are produced and given away each year only to end up in landfill.

At Trees not Tees we work with race and event organisers to give participants the option of planting a tree rather than receiving a t-shirt they won’t wear:

Events using Trees not Tees are seeing over 20% of participants choose to plant a tree, helping reduce the number of t-shirts races have to order and planting 1,000s of trees in their place, whilst still giving those 80% the chance to receive your race t-shirt;

It’s win-win.

What’s wrong with t-shirts?

We’re in a climate crisis. The environmental cost of making a t-shirt is huge. It takes the same amount of water that a person drinks in 2.5 years to make a single cotton t-shirt, plus over 2kg of eCO2. If it’s never even worn, all of those precious resources were spent for nothing – just ask the guys at ReRun Clothing

Conversely, the environmental benefit of planting a tree is huge. It helps us fight against climate change by taking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, it provides a home for a diverse range of species, and it gives us clean air to breath.
