A Whopping 7,532 Trees Planted at the TCS London Marathon 2025
Share
The 2025 TCS London Marathon didn’t just break records — it helped grow something bigger.
With over 56,000 finishers this year, it officially became the largest marathon in the world, setting a new Guinness World Record. And thanks to the incredible support of the team at London Marathon Events, we sponsored 7,532 trees here at Trees Not Tees.
That’s 7,532 trees on our Dumyat site in Stirling, Scotland - and all native species such as sessile oak, rowan, birch and Scots pine. Every tree is protected, traceable, and part of a long-term restoration plan - helping to restore damaged landscapes, support biodiversity, and lock away carbon for decades to come.
Among the many who received a tree were some familiar names from TV, sport and media, including:
- Romesh Ranganathan
- Sam Heughan
- Jenni Falconer
- Sir Jason Kenny
- Jack Wilshere
- John Terry
- Kimberly Hart-Simpson
- Candice Brathwaite
- Harry Judd
- Joe Sugg
While the celebrity involvement was a great bonus, the real celebration is the thousands of runners who chose to plant trees, showing that small actions - multiplied by thousands - really can reshape the future.

We’re incredibly grateful to London Marathon Events for continuing to lead the way on sustainability, and to Kate Chapman, their Head of Sustainability, for championing climate-positive action at every level.
Here’s to growing more trees, reducing more waste, and making every race part of something bigger 🌱
