The Essex 20, part of the Essex Road Running Championships 2022, is organised by Essex Athletics Association. The Essex 20 is held every year in March and is an ideal race to run in the build up to the Marathon season. However, it’s not just a training run as it has a long history. The venue for the event in 2022 is at Debden Airfield. This disused airfield has a fast, flat, tarmac course with no sharp corners.
This year, instead of taking an event medal at the finish, you will be offered the option to plant a tree with Trees not Tees to commemorate your participation. Planting a tree is one of the best things you can do to fight climate change, as they remove carbon dioxide from the air as they grow. They also provide a habitat for a wide range of the UK’s most endangered and loved species, and create clean air for us to breathe. Your tree will be planted in Scotland to grow as part of a whole new forest full of native broadleaf tree species. You’ll receive a certificate that includes a picture of your tree, details of the species, and a unique geo-location address so you can even go and visit. Purchase your commemorative tree for £2.60 during the registration process and create a legacy for the planet.
